Having served as president of TSOT for 2 ½ years Lauri believes that as Artistic Director she can be more effective in moving TSOT toward becoming a highly entertaining and professional performing troupe.
Born and raised in Fremont, Michigan, Lauri began dancing at age 4 and continued studying tap, ballet and jazz until entering college. She also played the flute, oboe and piano and sang in the same sextet from elementary through high school. Lauri has been singing with the Southern Arizona Women’s Chorus for 12 years and recently performed with the chorus at Carnegie Hall. She hung up her tap shoes after her talent competition in the Miss Michigan Pageant. Thirty-two years later Lauri was truly inspired after seeing a group of senior women dancing in a Tucson parade, but another five years passed before she joined the Hot Flashes in 2000.
Lauri received her BS and MS in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Michigan. She now has a private practice in which she specializes in accent and voice modification and communication skill-building for business persons. Lauri also does Home Health Speech Therapy with individuals suffering neurological impairment.
Marketing and Public Relations have been Lauri’s second career. She has been Director of Marketing and Public Relations for a Tucson hospital. As well, Lauri owned and operated both an advertising agency and a designer lingerie company in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Lauri's husband Joe is a radiologist in Tucson. They have two adult children, both residing in New York City.
